Why use SPF 50+ sun protection?

On the beach, on a terrace, hiking or during a boat trip: the sun illuminates these moments of relaxation. However, if your skin is poorly protected, it can quickly turn into a formidable enemy. This is where very high sun protection SPF 50+ comes in! 

SPF - for Sun Protection Factor - measures the ability of a sun product to protect your skin against UVA and UVB. The goal: to provide protection adapted to each skin type according to the intensity of the sun. Sun protection reduces the risk of sunburn, but also the effects of photoaging. Prolonged exposure without protection accelerates the appearance of wrinkles and spots. An SPF 50+ corresponds to a protection factor higher than 60: it provides very high protection. 

The difference between an SPF 50 sunscreen and SPF 50+ is subtle but important.

To better understand the difference between an SPF 50 and an SPF 50+, let's look at the duration of protection provided by these two indices. If your skin turns red in the sun after 10 minutes, then an SPF 50 allows you to stay in the sun for 500 minutes (10 x 50), or a little over eight hours, without burning.

With an SPF 50+ whose protection exceeds factor 60, you have at least 600 minutes (10 x 60) or 10 hours before your skin turns red. Of course, these calculations are theoretical: if you do not apply enough product, the level of sun protection will be considerably reduced. To avoid this, reapply your sunscreen every two hours, especially after swimming or drying off.
