The superpowers
of oils

The power of natural beauty oils have been evident for thousands of years. As far back as the Ancient Egyptian period, oils have been used as an essential element of body and skincare to provide nourishment, protection and health. Here at NUXE, we’ve long reflected this instinctive attitude to self-care. We’ve delved into the world’s natural resources to find the most sublimating oils for our products - foremost for our cult best-seller, Huile Prodigieuse®. Our multi-purpose dry oil contains 7 precious botanical oils, each with their own unique benefits. These amazing botanical oils are cold-pressed, an environmentally-friendly process which mean that they maintain every ounce of their nutritional and skin-benefits properties. Discover more about some of these oils part of our iconic dry oil, why we use them and their astonishing powers...

Macadamia Oil

Macadamia Oil is pressed from the nutrient-rich fruit of the Macadamia, or Queensland Nut, a slow-growing tree native to Eastern Australia, although today it’s cultivated in a number of countries around the world. NUXE has chosen Macadamia organically sourced from plantations in Guatemala where our supplier is committed to helping the local community through sustainable projects.

Due to its high fatty-acid content, Macadamia Oil has extraordinarily moisturising powers. Its subtle balance between richness in omega 9 (oleic acid) and the presence of palmitoleic acid makes its composition one of the closest to sebum. This is what gives it its nourishing, moisturising and soothing properties and is why Huile Prodigieuse® Riche, for dry skin types includes 30% more nourishing macadamia oil than our standard dry oil.

Argan Oil

The Argan tree grows mainly in arid areas of south-west Morocco. For generations, natives of the Atlas Mountains in Morocco have used the oil pressed from the Argan kernel for a variety of health, skin and hair care benefits. We source our oil from areas of Morocco which are approved for organic certification.

Essentially made up of omegas 6 (linoleic and gamma-linoleic acid) and rich in sterols, Argan oil supports the hydrolipidic film, which restores shine and silkiness to dry hair. It can even tame frizz and help to minimise split ends, giving Huile Prodigieuse® dry oil it’s seriously nourishing effect on hair.

Perfect as a hair dry oil, Huile prodigieuse® can also be used as a face and body dry oil as a moisturiser.

Tsubaki Oil

Native to Asia, the Tsubaki is a dark-green leafy evergreen shrub that can grow up to 6 meters in height. Tsubaki oil is the Japanese geisha’s ultimate beauty secret, they’ve used it for centuries to protect, nourish and moisturise their skin and hair which is why it’s such a vital ingredient of Huile Prodigieuse®

Tsbukai oil has a unique composition which gives it well-known nourishing and anti-ageing properties. It’s particularly rich in omega 9 (over 80%) which is a key building block of sebum and lipids in hair. It promotes the cohesion of cutaneous cells and strengthens the surface of the hydrolipidic film, the skin’s protective layer. This hugely supports the skin’s barrier function, protecting the skin from external aggressions.

And as if that wasn’t enough, it has a remarkable ability to increase synthesis and reduce destruction of collagen in the skin which keeps it looking full and youthful. Serious anti-ageing powers.

Almond Oil

The Almond tree is native to Central Asia and is the first fruit tree to flower at the end of winter. Almond oil is hugely popular across Asia and the Mediterranean, where it’s been credited with promoting healthy skin and a healthy heart.

The nourishing oil has a remarkably softening effect on skin and hair, leaving it more supple and radiant. It is this powerful ingredient that gives Huile Prodigieuse® its amazing ability to decrease stretch-marks appearance and split ends.

Contrary to popular belief, dry oils can also be of huge benefit to oily skin types with almond oil being a primary example. Sweet Almond oil is rich in omega 9 which acts as a perfect vector for the oil's nourishing molecules. This oil has a very nourishing effect on skin and hair, leaving them feeling softer, more supple and radiant.
